Blood and Discharge

We know that bleeding happens in a period, but what about those times where you just feel a flood of blood? Or when you have big black blobs come out? Those are all normal, and are very healthy. The floods of blood are when your uterus contracts, pushing out lots of blood [1]. Those moments may be really embarrassing and uncomfortable, but it’s just a part of having a period. Now what are the big black blobs? They are pieces of lining on your uterus- frequently called discharge. When your body is getting ready for a new month, they change the lining on your uterus, and that’s what those blobs are [2]! Now you’re an expert on blood and discharge, so next time you see those things happening, just remember that it’s all normal.
